Rigorous, Community-Connected Classroom Instruction and Expanded, Enriched Learning Opportunities
|
Our priority is to provide every student with rigorous, engaging instruction that prepares them for college, careers, and lifelong success by fostering strong partnerships among educators, families, and community organizations. We believe that student achievement is strengthened when learning extends beyond the classroom and reflects the strengths and resources of our community.
Our opportunities for growth include expanding after-school and enrichment programming, increasing meaningful family voice through our Parent Advisory Council and Show Me events, strengthening our One-Way Bilingual Immersion (OWBI) program, and continuously refining our programs and services to better meet the evolving needs of our students and families. By building on these opportunities, we will continue to create authentic learning experiences that connect academic rigor with real-world experiences and community engagement.

Collaborative Leadership, Shared Power, and Voice
|
Our priority is to ensure that the voices of our students, families, staff, and community partners are heard, valued, and reflected in the decisions that shape our school. By building authentic partnerships, we can foster shared leadership and create a school community where everyone has a meaningful role in supporting student success.
Our opportunities for growth include expanding family participation in our School Improvement Plan, strengthening Student Voice groups, and engaging families, staff, and community partners in thoughtful conversations through our Comprehensive Needs Assessment. These opportunities will help us better understand our community's strengths, identify areas for growth, and collaboratively develop programs and supports that meet the evolving academic and social-emotional needs of our students.

Integrated Systems of Support
|
Our priority is to continuously strengthen our integrated system of support so that we can identify and address the root causes of challenges facing students and their families. By using a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), we strive to provide coordinated academic, social-emotional, health, and basic needs resources that help every student thrive.
Our opportunities for growth include expanding partnerships with community organizations that can provide comprehensive support to families, helping us build relationships that are transformative rather than simply transactional. We will also continue to strengthen our basic needs resources through initiatives such as our milk distribution program and resource pantry while increasing opportunities for parent and community volunteer involvement. Together, these efforts will enhance our ability to support the whole child and strengthen our vision of A Community United for Student Success.

Culture of Belonging, Safety, and Care
|
Our priority is to ensure that every student, family, staff member, and community partner feels safe, valued, respected, and has a strong sense of belonging at Hillcrest. We are committed to creating a welcoming school environment where meaningful relationships are at the center of everything we do and where every member of our community knows they are an important part of our shared success.
Our opportunities for growth include continuing to strengthen school safety and family engagement through our revised dismissal procedures, increased two-way communication with families, expanded wraparound care services, and additional after-school programming. Most importantly, we will continue to partner with students and families to better understand their experiences, perspectives, and needs. By listening, responding, and working together, we can build an even stronger school community where every individual feels heard, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Powerful Student and Family Engagement
|
Our priority is to build trusting, authentic partnerships with students, families, and the broader community so that everyone has a meaningful voice in shaping the future of Hillcrest. We believe that student success is strongest when schools and families work together as equal partners, sharing ideas, celebrating successes, and collaborating to meet the needs of every child.
Our opportunities for growth include increasing family involvement in the planning and implementation of engagement activities, expanding parent and community volunteer opportunities, strengthening student leadership across all grade levels, and establishing a Parent Advisory Council to foster ongoing collaboration and meaningful dialogue between families and the school. By creating more opportunities for shared decision-making and engagement, we will continue to strengthen our vision of A Community United for Student Success.
